Foster Grandparent Program

The Foster Grandparents Program provides opportunities for low-income persons age 55 or over to extend supportive services in health, education and welfare settings to children having special or exceptional needs.

The Foster Grandparent Program is a mentorship program, not part of the fostering system.

A Foster Grandparent

  • Is in good physical and mental health
  • Is able to meet income guidelines
  • Is willing to serve 20-40 hours a week
  • Is capable of serving children with special needs
  • Can pass a background check

Foster Grandparents Benefits

  • Tax-free hourly stipend
  • Transportation mileage reimbursement
  • Paid oreintation and ongoing training
  • Recognition events
  • Socialization

Foster Grandparents Assist In Development Of

  • Motor skills
